Google announced its AI Mode Search option back in March, but it is only the US. Was available in Now, the company is also bringing AI mode for India, which marks the onset of a global rollout.

Unlike AI overview, AI mode allows for more advanced logic. This feature is powered by Gemini 2.5, and it gives the benefit of a fan technique that breaks your question into subtopics and gives multiple questions on your behalf. Then there is a response with links to resources used to compile the answer. You can always ask a follow-up question.
AI Mode is also capable of handling 2-3x longer than traditional search queries, and you can also use Voice Is Input. The multimodal nature of AI Mode allows you to enter images in your search query, using Google Lens. The feature is available for both Android and iOS.
To do a direct search using AI mode, all you have to do is tap on the new Shortc Rutcut on a regular Google search bar, which is also available on the web.
