Last month, we learned that WhatsApp was working on a feature that would allow users to summarize unprocessed messages in the chat, allowing them to catch a conversation quickly. Well, the development and test of this feature is now complete, as WhatsAP has officially announced its stable release.
WhatsApp calls this feature a “message summary”, which summarizes unwanted messages in the chat to use Meta AI “private and quickly”. The following GIF shows how it works. You can tap on unwanted messages in the chat, and WhatsApp will create a bulleted summary of messages.
Message summary uses Meta’s private processing technology, which allows Meta AI to produce a message summary. WhatsApp claims that this technology also ensures that third parties cannot read your messages or summers, not even meta or WhatsApp. People in the chat can’t see the summary of your message.
In addition, the message summary feature is optional and it is closed default, and you can use the “Advance Chat Privacy” setting to determine which chats can be shared for AI features.
WhatsApp said the message summary is available to US users in English language, and it plans to expand the availability of availability in other regions with the support of more languages later this year.
