Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is its thinner and light book-style foldable. There are already rumors about its successor, Galaxy Z Fold 8 in Samsung’s Korea home, which, if nothing changes in Samsung’s normal schedule, should start next July.

The company is now said to be considering both titanium and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for folded 8 backplate materials. It is significant because the convenience of fold 7 of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has used the CFRP, but the fold 7 itself turned to titanium, which was first seen in the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition from the first year.

Titanium was used in fold 7 to reduce the thickness, and with the removal of digitizer for the S pen, this is reduced by 0.6 mm. However, metals can probably interfere with the S Pen, at least electromagnetic resonance based tech that is using.

The company is currently said to develop a technology to make a digitizer slimmer, and thus will re -represent pen support – perhaps with next year. The demand for this is obviously very strong. Samsung Apple can also adopt digitizer-low technology, such as an active electrostatic solution operating by the Pal Pencil, in which case it can continue to safely use metal backplates without fear of interference.

Another reason for testing a titanium option, especially with the US tariff war -related supply concerns is to do. Samsung basically wants to ensure that a sudden change in the supply chain will not hold it from the guard. Of course we are still far away from the projection of fold 8, so many things can change. We will keep you posted.

In the meantime, do not miss our Galaxy Z Fold 7 review, it is fresh.
