Forecast: Samsung to stay #1 in foldables, but its lead on Huawei will be significantly shrunk – Jankari Express

Analysts have predicted that 19.8 million foldables will be sold this year, which will be 1.6% of the total smartphone market (about the same fraction as last year).

Samsung is currently ranked first in the global foldable market, though its lead is expected to evaporate in the competition – forecasts it has risen to 35.4% this year from 45.2% last year.

This will put it only one hair from Huawei, whose market share is expected to decline slightly from 35.2% last year that this year will be 34.1%. It will leave only one percent points between the two companies.

The combined numbers for OPPOs and Vivo are forecast to capture 8.5% of the market. Meanwhile, Ziomi will grow 3% to 5.1% this year.

This may happen until next year, with the order of the foldable display panels already placed with the Samsung display. Apple is focused on using liquid metal to remove the crease and strengthen the phone.
