Huawei refreshed this year’s Matapad Pro 12.2 with a new chipset, Kirin 9020. The exact upgrade is not clear in the Kirin 9000s within the Pad Pro 12.2 for 2024, but we know that both chips are fabaded on the 7nm node. Here we will see what influence improvements are given by the new chip.
The Huawei Matapad Pro 12.2 (2025) has a battery and charging system similar to its 2024 predecessor with a capacity of 10,100 mAh and 100W wide charging. Official numbers claim that 85% charge can be received in 40 minutes and the full 100% charge takes 55 minutes. We will put these numbers in the test.
Operation
We tested the Matapad Pro in two modes, standard and exhibits. The latter promotes tangible improvement and GPU performance (about 17%) in CPU speed (about 12%).
Both Kirin chips have an octa-core CPU in 1+3+4 configurations, with the top two clusters multi-threaded. However, the old 9000s operated its large cores at a high clock, 1x 2.62GHz + 3x 2.15GHz + 4x 1.53GHz, compared to 1x 2.4GHz + 3x 2.0GHz + 4x 1.6GHz for the new 9020 chip.
He said that the architectural updates allow 2025 MatPad Pro 12.2 to extend its 2024 predecessor in a single-core test. Note the same results between standard and display mode. When facing a multi-core task, the performance mode kicks, but its 12% erection was not enough to catch the 2024 tablet. Overall, the CPU on Kirin 9020 is a mixed bag and is comparable to Snapdragon 888.
He used the new GPU for this chip, Malen 920 instead of 910 in the 9000s. How are those two different? The Hizilican has been absolutely secreted about his chips, so we do not know.
However, there is a definite improvement – the standard mode allows the 2025 tablet to match the 2024 model and the display mode gives it a 15% lead. He said that Huaween defeats only the hassle of the mid-range exhibition-Kirin defeats 9020 Snapdragon 7S General 2 but no match for 7+ General 3. It comes closer to Snapdragon 888 since 2021.
The overall exhibition measured by Antutu is very solid with a score of over 1 million (although it needs to increase the performance mode to clean the threshold).
Huawei’s silicone efforts and SMIC semiconductor nodes are improving, but they still have a lot of charming, especially if the company matches the cutting edge inings furings from Qualcomm, MediaTek and other chipset manufacturers.
B Battery Terry Life
When he was not impressed with his performance, the Kirin 9020 proved himself a very efficient chip. Huawei modem (no surprise here) and Call L Times are great (this will be more important for a phone with a chip instead of matapad, accepted).
Matapad Pro 13.2 (2023) uses Kirin 9000S Chipset and has a 10,100mAh battery, similar to Matapad Pro 12.2 (2025). However, a major improvement in web browsing and video, plus the score of active use with solid erosion in gaming time increased over 3 hours.
Compared to chips on more advanced tumors (eg 4nm 7s Gen 2 inside Poko Pad), Matapad Pro is showing excellent results.
Charge
Huawei got a late start in chipset design (not by choice) and is very charming to do – most often, it seems that it has functionality on folk. But the company has now been working on fast charging for years and shows it.
The 100W system is fairly powerful and the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025) is essentially tops in all charts. Well, at the 15 -minute mark, the Xiomi Pad 7 Pro was 1% higher, but this is less than 1,250 mAh capacity. Indeed, Pad 7 Pro 67W did really good for the charge system.
Nevertheless, Mataped delivered zero-to-full charging as the Mataped promised (it missed the 55-minute mark only 2 minutes). We do not test 40 minutes, but the tablet was 62% on the half -hour mark – an excellent result.

The Huawei Matapad Pro 12.2 (2025) is a premium tablet that starts at € 850 for the base 12/256GB variant and if you want a 12/512GB slate with a paper display (which reduces reflection).
While it does not perform a premium tablet, it certainly provides great battery life and fast charge pace. And Huawei is making a lot of efforts to improve Hormonios – though international units are shipped with EMUI.
