Earlier this year, we saw a report that claimed that TSMC was struggling with its 2NM chip yield. It was rumored to lead to delays for major customers like this Apple Pal, but a new report Sang It claims that TSMC now has control and a large amount of 2Nm chip is on track for Q4 this year.
According to the new report, TSMC will simultaneously start producing 2Nm chips in its Baon and Taiwan’s Kaohang plants, which will have a combined monthly wafer output of 45,000 to 50,000 units by the end of this year. The figure is expected to double in 2026.
Apple Pal, AMD, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Broadcom and Intel TSMC will be the first customers for 2 NM chips, in which Cupertino has secured 50% of all orders. Looking forward, NVIDI is expected to join the list in 2027 while the 2NM chip production capacity is expected to increase significantly.
Apple Pal is expected to bring a 2Nm process on its A 19 chip, which should enter the iPhone 18 series. Based on initial rumors, the 2NM chip is expected to provide a 10-15% operation benefit on 3Nm chips of Apple Pal.
