DJI has unveiled a new smartphone gimbal that offers several new features, including the ability to connect directly to a phone and a new tracking module. The gimbal is currently available for purchase in China.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 comes with the company’s 3-axis gimbal stabilization technology, but now offers 360-degree unlimited horizontal rotation. It allows users to capture smooth panoramic 360 photos and videos while still tracking the subject.

It also comes with a built-in extension rod that enables it to tilt the gimbal forward to get low-angle shots. Osmo Mobile 8 has an improved tracking module. It offers integrated tracking, audio recording and fill light with adjustable brightness and color temperature.
DJI claims that the Osmo Mobile 8 can offer up to 10 hours of battery life. Notably, it can also charge the phone via USB-C.

According to the company, the new fourth-gen magnetic clamp is now stronger and supports phones with larger and heavier camera modules.
The smartphone gimbal supports the new ActiveTrack 7.0, which is supposed to improve tracking overall. Users can also enable dual-camera tracking with the DJI Mimo app.

DJI’s new Osmo Mobile 8 is priced at CNY 898 ($125) in China. It comes with OM Magnetic Phone Clamp 4, new multi-function tracking module, charging cable and other accessories. There is also a Vlog Kit that will cost CNY 997 ($140).
The gimbal is available for purchase through DJI’s online and offline stores in China. You can also choose one from JD.com, Tmall and Suning.
