A new rumor out of China claims that the ‘vanilla’ Xiaomi 16 will sport a key camera upgrade over its predecessor: a periscope telephoto shooter.

While this will be new for Xiaomi’s non-pro, non-ultra flagship line, it’s long overdue as both the ‘vanilla’ Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8 already have a periscope telephoto camera, so the Xiaomi 15 lags behind in that regard. .
Hopefully, its successor will be able to keep up with the competition, though who knows what craziness the Vivo X300 and Oppo Find X9 have in store for us.
Anyway, if this pans out then the entire Xiaomi 16 line – 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Ultra – will feature periscope zoom cameras.
