George Zhao Honor is stepping down from his position as CEO, effective immediately. The news was reported by Chinese media, which suggested that health concerns led to his decision to quit.
As reported by Daily Economic News, the board of directors accepted their decision. The new appointment will be Li Jian, a former Huawei executive with more than 20 years of experience in the mobile communications sector.
CLS China’s brief statement did not provide any details on Zhao’s decision or status. The new CEO began his career at Huawei in 2001, rising through the ranks to become a member of the supervisory board before departing in 2020 to join Honor in 2021.
Li Jian served as Vice Chairman, Director and President of the Human Resources Department prior to his promotion to CEO. He will need to navigate the challenging landscape of joint-stock management as the company prepares to launch its IPO in the near future.
