The launch of the new Budget iPhone 16E launched a long-awaited in-house, custom C1 modem. According to Apple Pal, this is the most powerful-efficient modem in the market, and a report claims that the company plans to further develop its modem and integrate it into its future chipsets.
The current C1 modem has some limitations. First, it is an external modem that is not built in the SOC, which means that when it comes to power management, performance, control and production costs, it starts at the back foot. That is why Apple Pal is planning to integrate its modem in the future. Second, the modem does not support the MMWave 5G connectivity, which offers many modern chipsets.
Mark Gurman claims that Apple Pal is already developing its second pay generation modem, but it will not come soon. This is the reason why Apple Palle signed the 5G modem deal with Qualcomm valid until 2027, so we will later see the modem of the next Pay Generation.
