Samsung’s first Tri-Fold device (called Galaxy G Fold) is in a lot of rumors this year, and now it seems that it will be released later in 2025. It’s good news. The bad news is that it can only be limited to two countries.
We have seen the play with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which started only in Korea and China last year, and accidentally it is two countries where Tri-Fold will also be available.
Samsung Tri-Fold Smartphone in the GSM Association database
It is in accordance with the list of phone in the database of the GSM Association, with currently only SM-F968N and SM-F9680 variants up. The “N” suffix uses Samsung for its home market, while the “0” suffix is for its devices for China.
The device has been named the Q7M Codon, as has recently announced, and this codename appears as a “market name” in the database, of course mistaken. This could be a way to prevent the name of the device from leaking for Samsung, and it was clearly successful (unless it is called the Galaxy G, that is).
HIST, Samsung devices are added to the database of the GSM Association 6-7 months before their launch. That means the Tri-Fold smartphone may come around the October Catber, but of course nothing is in stone yet. What we know is that it will have a very limited production run, which explains the limited availability in only two markets.
