Samsung unveiled the edge of the Galaxy S22 – measuring only 5.8 mm, it is the thinest smartphone in years. In fact, no phone released in the 2020s has gone down 6 mm thick. This does not happen cheap, of course – here is a detailed price breakdown. Is the phone you are waiting for or Samsung is trying to push a game that won’t catch up?
If you are leaning towards the former, you will be happy to hear that the edges of the Samsung Galaxy S22 are more influenced than just being thin – it is also very lighter. Despite the large disparity in the size of the screen (6.7 “v.2.1”) Vanilla Galaxy S 25 weighs more than one gram. And it packs 200MP sensors in the main camera, which is previously specific to the ultra models.
There is a downside, of course, like battery capacity – it is less than vanilla S 25 (3,900 mAh vs. 4,000 mAh). And it has slow charging (25W wired, 15W wireless). There is no telephoto camera, it depends on a 200MP unit to zoom in. And finally, it’s expensive – 512GB for free storage upgrade and the £ 100 Samsung credit you get with the phone as well.

And the 200MP camera is not alone when it comes to zooming – there is a 10MP3x (67 mm) medium tally and a 50MP5x (111 mm) long tally. It also has a 50MP ultra-wide camera, while the same has a basic 12MP unit such as vanilla and plus models.
It is reported that the edge will change the plus model in the Galaxy lineup next year. This year, however, the Galaxy S is cheaper than the 25+ edges. Despite the current prices, we will go to the ultra -over plus in the heart.
But just for perfection, if you want S 25+, we will advise you to wait a week or two. The phone is large despite the same screen size (7.3 mm, 190 g vs. 5.8 mm, 163 g). However, it has a 1,000 mAh large battery (4,900 mAh) and fast 45W wired charging. Instead of a 200MP camera, it has a 50MP main and 10MP3X (67 mm) telephoto.
While that razor is thin, the edge of the S25 is still 75.6 mm wide. The Vanilla Samsung Galaxy S 25 is 70.5 mm wide and the same weight. Which phone is “small” in your mind? If it is S2, you get the same hardware as 6.2 “displays and 4,000 mAh batteries (essentially the same size as edge), S2 25+.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is small in other ways – it folds down to 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm and weighs 187g. If it had a 200MP camera, it would have been great, but regret, you only get 50+12MP setup. At least the battery is larger than the edge – only by 100 mAh (4,000 mAh capacity), but foldables are not known for their battery size. Z Flip 7 is a few months away, but it costs more than the current £ 900 for the 2024 model.
Alternatively, you can get the Motorola Razor 60 Ultra, which is worth the edge. It is rated IP48 like a flip and has a Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset. There is no telephoto or 200MP camera, but provides 50+50MP CM MBO high resolution ultra-wide photos. And the battery is also larger at 4,700 mAh with a faster charging than the S 25 Ultra – 68W wire and 30 W wireless.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is another phone that competes with Ultra instead of the edge. It measures 8.5 mm thick and weighs with 6.8 “displays and 5,060 mAh batteries (charging 37 W/23W). It has a 50MP main, 48MP5X (113 mm) and 48MP ultra-wide camera.
Google Pixel 9 Pro is 72 mm wide – S 25 is not as small and heavy at 199G. But you get the same hardware the same as Pro XL, except for 6.3 ”displays and 4,700mAh batteries (27 W/21 W/21W) except for both pixel Pro on the precious side, but it comes with a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro 2, if you are on the market for new TWS buds.
The OnePlus 13S 25 is close to the size of the ultra. But it packs a large 6.82 “display and 6,000 mAh batteries-Summing has not yet gone above 5,000 mAh. And this is with a fast 100W wire and 50W wireless charging. The camera is 50MP main, supported by 50 MP3x (73 mm) and 50MP ultr-wide-all and you will cost £ 300.
Poko F7 Ultra is priced equal to the edge of S2. It’s not a small phone by anyway (8.4 mm, 212 g), but you get a Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip and a 5,300mAh battery with 120W wire and 50W wireless charging. The camera has a 50MP main, 50MP 2.5x (60 mm) tally and 32MP ultra-wide.
