The Amazon App Store for Android will be killed on August 20, the company has officially announced today. Starting that day, you will no longer have its access to your Android device. It’s not clear what will happen exactly – will the app just stop working or throw the notification if the App Store is closed? Guess we have to wait and see.
Amazon is also killing the Amazon Coin program on the same day, so if you have someone, you will need to use it by August 20. To date, Amazon coins are no longer available for purchase. No, we don’t know what it is. But they are no longer available, so it doesn’t really matter anymore.
If your account still comes to the 20 August Gust, Amazon says it will return them, but the additional details of how it will work will be “shared at a later date”.
The Amazon App Store has never really taken up as the right rivals on the Google Play Store, and now it seems that Amazon has finally decided to leave it and use its resources for other things.
