After the disappeared from its virtual shelves last year, Amazon Kindle has returned on sale in India with the launch of the new Kindle Paper White, which is now the only model available for purchase.
The new Kindle Paper White, which is the 6th Pay Generation Paper White and the 12th Pay Generation, launched in other markets at the end of last year. It has a 7-inch 300 PPI 16-level Grascale display and contains 16GB of internal storage. Amazon says it is their fastest kindle that can last up to 12 weeks with a 25% fast page battery. With IPX8 rating, the device is also water resistant.
For some unknown reasons, Amazon suddenly removed all Kindle lists from its India store last year. Kindle readers were available for many years at that time and came in multiple types. The company has not really offered any explanation for it, only it states that it is temporary but there is no deadline for when they will come back.
The latest paper White Launch indicates the end of this interval but with one of the previous differences. Paper White now sits as the only product in the company’s Eings fur in India while the U.S. There are five models on sale. Paper White is also a premium offering fur, which comes at INR 16,999 when you can get as much as half the basic kindle in the past.
It is possible that other models may return to the India storefront over time but at present, if you are a potential Kindle buyer in India, expect to pay big money.
