Android adds support for digital credentials – Jankari Express

Google has announced that Android digital credentials are getting support for presentation and issuing. This is being done with original support for OpenID 4 VP and OpenID 4 VCI standards, which are being integrated into Android’s credentials.

With the addition of this feature, users will be able to preserve digital credentials on their device in any application supporting Digital Credit API. Applications will also be able to share information with other applications and the user can use them to upload credentials or present wherever necessary. For the reasons clear security and privacy, the transfer will occur on the encrypted communication tunnel.

Digital credentials are cryptographically verified documents, including user’s driver’s license, passport or anything from the national ID, but if the technology is more widely adopted, education certificates, insurance Policies lisi, membership, permits and more.
