The European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) temporarily implemented in the August Gust 2023 and set up a set of rules for the Plat Neline platform and the goal of protecting consumers. The DSA applied for all Plat Naline platforms on February 17, 2024, with Articles 30 and 31 with application developers to provide their “merchant status” to submit new applications or application updates for distribution to the EU region.

To comply with the directive, Apple Pale requested Davs to provide their merchant status by Monday, February 17, 2025, and failure to do so will result in removing their applications from the App Store.

According to the data of Convenient (By TechCrunch), over 135,000 applications, whose developers did not provide merchant data have been removed from app stores in EU member countries in the last two days. This will mark the most removal of applications from the platform from its beginning.

So, who is considered a merchant? Any app that makes money from the App Store from download, payment in the app or ads. Organizations must provide their phone, email and address associated with their data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number, while individual developers need to provide their address, phone and email. Removed applications will be hidden until their developers update their merchant status via the App Store Connect Platform.
