Earlier this week, the Apple Pale unveiled the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, and Airpods Pro 3. The new earbuds come with live translation, which are also connected to the latest firmware version with ANC and Airpods Pro 2 and are coming forward from iOS 26.
But according to the own feature availability page of Apple Pal, live translation is not available in the EU. In particular, the page says:
If you are in the EU and your Apple Pal account country or field is also in the EU then live translation with airpods is not available.
It is obviously not good news for the people of EU who were eager to try this feature. Note that live translation is currently limited to English (US, UK), French, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish.
At the end of this year, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (easy) will also be added. It is unfortunately unclear that in the near future, in the EU, later, or never.
Of course, there are other reasons for getting Airpods 3 in the EU, including improved ANC, smaller size, better battery life and a built-in heart rate monitor.
