Oppo (including OnePlus) managed 18.3 million shipments and 12% market share while Realme and its 16.6 million shipments and 11% market share rounded out the top five brands. According to Canalys analysts, consumers were driven to upgrade their devices by the pandemic and the 5G upgrade in the refresh cycle. Brands faced stock piles during the festive season, leading to heavy year-end discounts.
The report also outlined trends in total shipments for Q4, 2024, which showed a modest year-over-year decline of 4% from the previous year. The ranking of the top four brands by shipments and market share was the same year-on-year, with the only exception being Apple, which rose to fifth place.
The Cupertino managed 4 million shipments in Q4 and grabbed 11% market share, putting it on par with Oppo. Apple experienced 39% year-over-year growth driven largely by promotions and discounts during the holiday season and iPhone release.
