China did not take long to avenge the Trump administration’s new “Liberation Day” tariff. Effective from April 10, China will impose a reciprocal 34% tariff on all US imports.
In a press release with the Chinese Finance Ministry, Trump Tariff is referred to as “unilateral bullying practice” and “urged the United States immediately to cancel its unilateral tariff measures and solve trade differences by equally, respectable and mutually beneficial consultation”.
From China semiconductor to electric vehicles, it also restricts the export of rare earth minerals used in a wide range of fields. In addition to the new 34% tariffs, China has 11 U.S. Defense and drone companies have blocked trade and exports from China. An additional 16 US companies added to China’s export control list.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce also lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization, in which Trump’s tariff is accused of violating the WTO rules. The US exported $ 143.5 billion to China in 2024.
