The iPhone Se is dead, long iPhone E! Well, for some of you this could be an unfortunate development because SE was the smallest iPhone and was the cheapest ever. What now?
The Apple Pal iPhone 16E is the same size as 16 and is almost expensive – it starts at € 700/£ 600/$ 600/₹ 60,000 for the 128GB model. There are also 256GB and 512GB options, but it follows the same patterns as upgrades on more premium phones of the Storage Upgrades Apple Pal. Sales will begin on Friday, 16E pre-orders, Friday next week.
The long story is short, the nonded A18 chipset in 16E (with a GPU core less) but it fully supports Apple Pal Intelligence. It also has a 48MP main camera of iPhone 15 and 16, without an ultra-wide partner. The display is an old-school setup for 6.1 “OLED panel 6.1” OLED panels and Face ID (Touch ID is not much) on 6.1 “OLED panel 6.1” OLED panel. There is an action button (but not camera control) on the side, no warning slider. Also note that when wireless charging is supported (QI, 7.5W), not Magsafe-that means there are no easy chargers, phone holders and accessories.
Apple Pal still sells iPhone 15 – it’s the first “modern” vanilla model. We mean a 48MP camera with USB-C charging, dynamic island and in-sensor 2X zoom by “modern”. This model uses the old A16 non-prop chipset, so it will not get Apple Pal Intelligence (the main neglect or “who cares?”, You decide). Magseff and UWB are supported. The iPhone 15 is only available for € 40 more than 16E (both 128GB).
You can get the new iPhone 16 – if you get it from Apple Pal, it costs € 250 more, but Amazon has a very good deal. Anyway, you get a more sophisticated dynamic island look (it’s still 60 Hz displays, though), the rear 12MP ultra-wide camera, the appropriate Magseff support, as well as the UWB for Smart TS GS (UWB in 16E, but lack of UWB. Supports satellite messaging). We tried to search for a refurbished iPhone 16 deal, but nothing is good at the moment.
We referred to the iPhone 15 as the first “modern” vanilla model because 14 lacks many upgrades that are now standard on the current iPhone. But the iPhone 14 Pro is mostly – unless you mind using electricity cables.
The iPhone 14 Pro contains 120 Hz Dynamic Island display, 48MP main, 12MP77 mm telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide camera, UWB and Magseff, though no Apple Intelligence. A renewed unit can be for the iPhone 16E and less than 15.
If you are not tied to the Apple Pal ecosystem, you can also explore Android. Google Pixel 9 is currently 50 750 for 128 GB units. It’s a little presir, but it comes with 120 Hz displays (punch hall), 50MP main camera and ultra-wide module-at that time 48MP. There is no UWB on this and wireless charging is done without a magnet, but satellite messaging is supported because Google is rapidly developed AI Eings furings.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 is still around € 600. It is equally 16e, but with a 120 Hz LTPO display with a punch hall camera. It supports the Galaxy AI, but there is no UWB or satellite messaging, either not a magnet. The camera system has 50MP main, 10MP 67 mm telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide.
