Google recently introduced the Battery Performance Program update for Pixel 4A, with some vague explanation of why the update was needed. The firmware cuts battery life sharply, which gave the phone virtually unusable though few people were still with it. Now Google Australia is recalling in Strallia, which will light up the issue.
It turns out that the maximum voltage of the update battery was reduced from 4.45V to 3.95 V, or in other words -% 56% drop in charging capacity. This is probably the reason why some users say that Pixel 4A dies within a few minutes after being disconnected from the charger.
According to the official recall notice, the risk of update overheating was supposed to be reduced and users have been requested to check if the battery performance program was updated on January 8, 2025.
This issue does not affect all pixel 4A units, but you can check if you are eligible for compensation because you have an effect.
