The global foldable market is growing on “measured pace”, writing Attitude In his recent report. The main obstacles to adoption are the same – durability, crease and, of course, concerns about prices.
Analysts have predicted that 19.8 million foldables will be sold this year, which will be 1.6% of the total smartphone market (about the same fraction as last year).
Samsung is currently ranked first in the global foldable market, though its lead is expected to evaporate in the competition – forecasts it has risen to 35.4% this year from 45.2% last year.
This will put it only one hair from Huawei, whose market share is expected to decline slightly from 35.2% last year that this year will be 34.1%. It will leave only one percent points between the two companies.
Some other manufacturers are in the race – their shares are small but developed. For example, Honor and Motorola had 6% and 5.5% market share in 2024 and are expected to grow by 9.1% and 7.6% this year.
The combined numbers for OPPOs and Vivo are forecast to capture 8.5% of the market. Meanwhile, Ziomi will grow 3% to 5.1% this year.
Attitude It predicts that the global foldable market will continue its slow but steady growth in the near future. One thing that can really shake things is Apple Pal’s enters the market.
This may happen until next year, with the order of the foldable display panels already placed with the Samsung display. Apple is focused on using liquid metal to remove the crease and strengthen the phone. The third concern is that people have, well, no one expects the Apple Pal device will be affordable – all its first foldable.
