In December, Google announced the Android XR, OS for VR and AR headsets. Then in January, he got the HTC’s Vive XR team. It is producing many things and one of them was recently displayed at a Ted event in Vancouver.

Prototype smart glasses were worn by Shahram Izadi, the head of Android XR. These are not VR goggles, instead they have a small display that can overlay the graphics on the top of a transparent glass.

They connect to a phone and bow to Google’s Gemini AI to do their magic. On stage, Izadi showed a live translation from Persian to English, scanned a book and other uses.

Details are not clear at this point, but it seems that the phone is trained in terms of calculations to keep the glasses thin and lighter-which is important for long-term rest.

Google is also working on Goggles in Samsung’s partnership – a project mahan device that will probably be sold as “Galaxy XR”. Instead of overlaying the graphics on the glass, these goggles use a camera for a passthrough video, which allows the user to view and contact the outside world and also enable complex graphics like multiple virtual computer monitors. It was also demoed at the TED event.

Samsung Galaxy XR Goggles will be available later this year and may be very expensive, costing around $ 2,500. Samsung is also working on glasses that can begin with goggles. There is no word on when Google’s glasses will be ready.
