HMD has launched a new low-end smartphone Key. It has a 6.52-inch 576×1,280 60 Hz LCD touchscreen with 460-nit peak brightness, Unisoc 9832E chipset, 2GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage and a 4,000 mAh battery with 10W charging support.
So it’s as barebones as they come, in fact it runs Android 14 Go, presumably because trying to cram normal Android into 2GB of RAM would be more of a disaster. It is promised to receive quarterly security updates for two years and nothing else.

The phone has a single speaker, 8 MP rear camera, 5 MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port and is IP52 rated for dust and splash resistance. It will be offered in Midnight Black and Ice Blue colors. It measures 166.4 x 76.9 x 8.95 mm and weighs 185.4 grams.
With these specs you’d expect it to be cheap, and it kind of is, launching in the UK for £59. It should roll out to other markets very soon, with Australia and New Zealand in the first batch.
Thanks for the tip!
