IDC: Huawei crushes foldable phone competition in China – Jankari Express

Huawei is not just dominating the foldable market in China – it is extending its lead. In the final quarter of 2024, Huawei sent 2.506 million units for 48.6% market share, per IDC Data. Analysts are now reporting that Huawei has sent 2.842 million units for 76.6% market share in the first quarter of this year.

This year is the dominant growth of the big rebounds of the year.

Huawei growth in the foldable market comes at the expense of other manufacturers. Here is the biggest loser honor – it has risen only 9.1% in Q1 with 20.6% share in Q4 2024.

This puts it a bit from Oppo, which is about 7.1% of the foldable phones sent to China. Although not as impressive as Huawei’s benefits, Oppo also increased significantly – it was only 5.3% of Q4. The third was connected to Vivo, which is no longer on the chart. Ziomi’s stock also shrinks significantly from Q4 to Q1 (7.4% to 2.6%).

In fact, Ziomi and Vivo have not published new foldables from early/mid -2024. The first foldable of Oppo after 2023 arrived just a few months ago (find the N5 in February), so its effect may not be felt up to Q2.

Last year, Huawei launched the first-time Tri-Foldable (Matt XT Ultimate), Book-Style Foldable (Met X6) and two flip phones (Pocket 2 and Nova Flip). This year, he kicked things from a fantastic but innovative model (Pura X).

Talking about the overall smartphone market in China, it is led by Vivo, while Huawei is waiting for the Apple Pal.
