The new iPhone 17 Pro is created differently from the Pro – and we are not talking about switches from titanium to aluminum. The IPixit team favored the Pro and detailed the process of the embedded video below.
The new aluminum frame has a back glass “window” that allows wireless charging and magnetic power of the magnet magnet. However, it is smaller than before – it does not cover the whole back.

This means that you cannot cease more accesses by removing the back glass panel – now most of the repair will have to start by removing the screen. Once it is removed, you can screw a mid-frame-a change that the iPixit team has rated very much that the battery is actually attached to this mid-frame, making it easy to remove.
Overall, the iPhone 17 Pro is slightly less repaired than the iPhone Air, which was taken apart a few days ago. However, both 17 Pro and Air were given a provisional repairability score of 7-10 – the same score of the iPhone 16 Pro last year. IFixit also addresses scratchgate and explains why it happens – the shape of the camera island weakens around the sharp edge (which gives their color to the iPhone 17 marks). Interestingly, the two Pro models are more sensitive to scratches than the vanilla iPhone 17, which is also made of anodized aluminum.
