The Brand-New iPhone 16E is the fourth and least expensive member of the iPhone 16 series. Reaching 9 599/€ 699/£ 599 requires a little resource at the starting price and it has now been confirmed that the A18 chip within 16E is not the same with the one used in the regular iPhone 16.

IPhone 16e is a binda A18 chip

According to the official specs of Apple Pal, 16E A18 chip has a 6-core CPU (2 exhibition and 4 functionality) with 4-core GPU and 16-core neural engine. While the CPU and neural core calculation are similar to the regular A18 chip, the GPU on 16E gets one less core. This is not likely to be a significant difference in real-world influence but will probably appear in the benchmark and more demanded gaming titles.

Chip bining is a common quality control process in the semiconductor industry because the yield is never 100% and some chips do not reach the desired core calculation or clock speed. Instead of throwing out these chips, most manufacturers separate them into different bins (hence the name) and disabling some cores. After that, unpaid chips are sold at a lower price.

The non -A18 chip has one less GPU core than the A18 chip on the iPhone 16 and less than two cores of the iPhone 16 Pro/Max. This situation is similar to the iPad Mini (2024) with a non -version of the A17 Pro chip with a GPU core again.
