Mediatek announced the new Dimension 8450, which directly released Dimensity 8400 in December 2024. As the name suggests, the upgrades are low, and the company mostly introduced under-hood changes. Interestingly, there is already a silicone running – Oppo Reno 14 Pro.
The Demensity 8450 is still based on the 4NM node of TSMC’s second Pay Generation, with a 1X Cortex-X4 core 3.25 GHz, 3X Cortex-A720 Core 3.0 GHz and 4x Cortex-A520 cores. The GPU 7 is Mali-G720 mc7 with core and closed at 1300 MHz. If it looks familiar, it is because the Dimension 8400 runs on the same certain hardware.
However, the new chipset promotes gaming and ISP Optim ptimization. For example, the GPU now uses a starpeed engine, improving real-world gaming, while improved ISP has live-stream Optim ptimization. ISP is able to handle 320MP sensor with zero-leg HDR imaging. The NPU 880 also receives some love with an agency AI engine that supports -N -devices Jaini and LLM workloads.
Finally, the 5G modem of Dimension 8450 gets a new power-saving feature, Ultrasev 3.0+ to reduce the consumption of ENERGY.
We should start appearing in the upper mid-range phone in the following weeks and months.
