New UTAG app lets you use Samsung Smartgs on non-Sumsung devices – Jankari Express

There are multiple competitive smart tag networks – which is not great because there is a number of strength for such networks (as much as there is more users, tracking is better). Last year, Google launched its Find My Network and is considered “Find My Network for Android”, but it still doesn’t work great. Samsung’s smartthings are nice, but they are only available to the owners of Galaxy Phones.

No longer, developer Kieron Queen created the UTAG app (“Universal Tag G G”, which allows any Android phone (OS version 11 and new) to use Samsung Smartgs. The application also has some features that lack the official Samsung application.

You can download UTAG from the project’s github page, where you will get a pre -built APK. The app is a fully open source, as the developer wants its users to feel comfortable or suspected. If you have questions, you can also join the project’s conflicts.

Here’s a difficult part – the modified version of the UTAG Smarting app will download and install. You need to sign in that app once and once again to give Samsung API a UTAG Give Case. The official application will refuse to work on non-Summing devices, the modified version removes this check (and it also has a code that speaks to the UTAG application).

Once done, you can do everything, starting by setting up a new smartTag. You can use UWB for specific tracking (direction and distance). You can also share a tag with your family members. And you can contribute back to the smartthings network, so the T S Guys seen by your phone can be found by their owners. Obviously, the only thing that doesn’t work is King Mode Pet Walking.

Then there are some features that you will not find in the Smartthings app. UTAG can automatically scan the nearest unknowns for you – this is to prevent someone from using the tag to make you a track. Also, you can add widgets to your homescreen that shows the location or location history of a specific tag.

You can follow the source link of the informative post by the developer of UTAG, which covers all the features and works in a way. And if you are wondering if AirTag support can be added, the answer is no – Airtags is not supported at Android at all. There are roads around this, but they are more complex than the moded version of the official application (which does not exist).
