Samsung has been incredibly slow to adopt seamless updates for its Android smartphone which is still not very clear. The company eventually entered with the Galaxy S25 series, as well as the Galaxy A55. Therefore, naturally, we have assumed that all its devices start after the convenience will be supported.
Hey, no. Recently published Galaxy A26 and Galaxy A36 have just received their first updates in Europe, and as there is a saying, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the A36 fact supports seamless updates.
The bad news is that A26 is not. It is enough to say, this does not make sense, but that’s it. The A56 has not yet received its first update, but we of course hope it supports seamless updates, because it does.
Seamless updates use two similar system partitions. When you get an update, it is installed on a partition that is not currently used by the system – thus the installation can be done perfectly when you are using the phone, no need to be installed on the reboot. In the end you still have to reboot the phone, but it is a very fast affair as it needs to switch between partitions.
For this, two partitions need to exist from the first day, there is a zero probability that the Galaxy A26 unfortunately, will never support seamless updates. And so Samsung is extremely slow in rolling this – but then it is usually slow with rollouts, so it’s not really surprising.
