OnePlus will release the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro on December 26. The brand announced the date after listing the phone on the Oppo Store in China. OnePlus China president Louis Gee confirmed that the vanilla version will sport Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Pro will go a step further and run on Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The executive added that OnePlus Ace 5 will be so powerful that the chipset will look like Gen 3.5. It will be more than just an upgrade; It will enhance the premium smartphone experience.
The new phones will also come with a thin Si/C battery, which OnePlus calls Glacier Battery Technology. It’s essentially a thinner cell while increasing the mAh capacity, but we’re still looking for specifics.
We expect the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro to share most of their hardware, with the same 6.78” LTPO AMOLED display, 50 MP main + 50 MP telephoto + 2 MP macro camera combination and dimensions.
The chipset is an expected difference, but we could also see the Ace 5 with a higher battery capacity, while the Ace 5 Pro will have a 6,100 mAh cell.
