QI V2.2.1 Standard is now a fancy marketing name: QI2 25W. And it indicates the name, this is a wireless charging spec that goes up to 25W. It was officially unveiled today by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
The WPC promises that “Major Android Smartphone” (whatever it means) “is going to join the QI 2 ecosystem for the first time with this launch”, apparently in addition to the iPhone of Apple Pal. Fourteen devices, receivers and transmitters last week completed the QI 2 25W certification test, and the full-scale certification test is now open to “several hundred devices waiting in the queue to test.”
Ne OU will have accessories such as chargers and power banks, but it will still be interesting to see some Android phones supporting some new standards. Whether they go on a magnet-free route or eventually switch to built-in magnets like iPhones.
Compared to the previous, 15W Speck, Q2 25W is about 70% more power, and according to WPC market research, fast wireless charging is the first feature of customer-consciousness to improve wireless charging satisfaction.
