Realme’s main focus in this year’s mobile World Congress is to launch its 14 Pro series in Europe, but the company also searched some.
Meet Realm Interchangeable Lens Concept – a field smartphone that can mount a Leica M lens on its back!
Before we mount the lens, let’s look at the underlying phone. This is a realm smartphone running two years old Snapdragon 8 General 2 SOC. The rear is reminiscent of Ziomi’s 15 ultras in its dual-tone Silver Chrome.
Realme has a camera island covered with glass with two cameras-one wide and ultravide, with a custom 1-inch type of gold-made sensor without OPT pattics.
The frame of the camera island is a special mount, which can take the Leica M Mount Screw-AD adapter, which allows you to attach the Leica M lens.
That means all the significant lens options of Lica are available to you – Lica M is the oldest actively used K Camera Mera Mount.
Realme had a lens of 73 mm (about 3X) and 230 mm (10x). However, if you are supplying your own lens, you need to account for the crop factor, which is around 2.47 for a 1 inch type of phone sensor.
It will make a classic 50mm lens (around 2x around 2X compared to the main sensor of the phone) or about 5.4x.
Realme is not the first to realize. We saw exactly the same thing in 2022, when Ziomi showed the 12c Ultra that could mount the Leica M Lens.
Even so, concept phones are designed to prove engineering points – the company will produce a large number of boast than the product that will produce and sell to customers.
So this field does not come to your nearest store. But it is still refreshing to see such enthusiasm for innovation on the ground of the mobile world Congress after some stable years of traditional years.
