Samsung’s latest custom Android Skin, a UI8, based on Android 16, is currently available in the Galaxy S22 series in the markets selected by the Beta Program, and it will be some time before the old, lower-galaxy devices gain its taste. One of the eligible Samsung smartphones for a UI 8 is the Galaxy A55, which can achieve a stable build by the end of 2025.

We say because the Samsung Galaxy A55, Bearing Model Code SM-A556E, has been seen on Android 16 running Gickbench, suggesting that Samsung has begun working on a UI 8 for this Exynos 1480-powered smartphone.

We expect Samsung to open an UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy A55 in the next few months, with a stable build published before 2026. Until then, you have to use your Samsung Galaxy A55 with an UI 7 based on Android 15.
