The first unpacked of Samsung’s year is its most important event yet. It set the tone for most of the smartphone market in the first six months of 2025 and introduced Samsung’s flagship, Galaxy S25 ULtra for the year. Tagged with Galaxy S25 and S25+, which is probably the most praise we can give them. Oh, and Samsung tees the Galaxy S25 EDGE and when it has four edges, it has nothing to do with its legendary names.
So without more hindrance, we have a hot tech on this series.
A UI 7 is great, AI eventually looks attractive
The first half of Samsung’s 1 hour and 10 minutes of January 2025 was about the first half of the unpacked presentation One UI and AI, so it is worthwhile to start with it.
For the first time, Samsung delayed from the end of autumn to the middle of winter in its One UI update. Looking at the end result it seems appropriate to the delay. The new tech on Samsung’s UI looks fresh and, crucally, fast. And it brings unprecedented features, such as a vertical application drawer – just imagine all the possibilities!
Keeping the jokes on the side, the new Gemini -powered AI smarts look appropriate – not just the tricks. The circle for search can now identify the phone number, emails and URLs for quick actions. Multimodal AI agents also interpret text, speech, images and videos for natural interactions – for example, you can ask Gemini to find a specific photo in the gallery. Search is aware of the content that indicates your next step – sharing a GIF, or saving an event.
Natural Language Input allows you to control some of the phone’s features. For example, you can search a voice in your gallery and ask AI Assistant to pull photos from your trip to a particular place. If it is too small you can ask it to enlarge the font!
We like the new design of Galaxy S25 ULTRA
Galaxy S Ultra entered its rectangular phase with Galaxy S22 Ultra in early 2022. It was special and unique, and it borrowed wisely for a phone -equipped phone.
But the new circular shape looks smarter and even more important is that it improves handling. Galaxy S25 Ultra is a big phone and this makes it comfortable in hand.
In effective way, Samsung made the display 0.1-inch larger, the phone 0.4mm thin and 14G light without compromising the internal size such as durability or battery!
The best display glass becomes better
Galaxy S24 ULTRA was the only phone with an anti-reflection display in the market despite rumors that other manufacturers would come out with similar tech. The low-reflective display proved to be wonderful for outdoor visibility, as our summer time battery test has been proven.
Galaxy S25 Ultra could have easily sit on the lead, but it brings a more improved panel – Gorilla Armor 2 retains its anti -reflection coating, but it is brighter and more durable.
The new 50MP ultravide looks good on paper, but the initial templates are not sure
Samsung upgraded only ultravide angle cameras on the Galaxy S25 Ultra – 12 other cameras remained unchanged in Ultra, Plus and Vannya. The 12MP sensor with f/2.2 optics is gone, with a new 50MP imager with a more bright f/1.9 lens. The central length remains at 120 °.
The high-megapixel camera opens 8k videos and, on paper, produces ultravides with more detail, while the upgraded apocracy delivers better shots in less light.
However, we are not looking at it in our first samples. We have two cameras compared between Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra (Part 1, Part 2) and we can’t easily say that the new camera is better. Old one makes more sharp photos with more detail.
It is the entire theme – the main 200MP camera enjoys the new (and potentially fast) ISP of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip and however, we are looking at more sharp and more detailed images from the old phone.
Galaxy S25 Ultra is the world’s worst ultra in photography
Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Vivo’s X100 Ultra, Huawei’s Pura 70 Ultra or Oppo Find Samsung Ultra with X7 Ultra and it will be the last in the overall imaging exhibition. It is not a good look for a company looking for a segment.
S Pen Downgrade, Really ???
Surprisingly, Samsung stripped Bluetooth connectivity from the S 25 Ultra in the Galaxy S 25 Ultra. There is also no accelerometer, meaning no air actions. S Pen was the best remote shutter in the world and now it is just a stylus. Very strange.
Snapdragon only for galaxy 8 Elite Mobile Platform
Snapdragon 8 Elite is a big step from Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The “for Galaxy” main 2x oryon v2 shows a slightly high clock speed on the Phoenix L cores, GPU and NPU. “Original” SD 8 Elite is on 4.32 GHz, while Galaxy-Exclusive CPU runs on 4.47 GHz.

Fans from all over the world will be happy that every one of the galaxy S25 units around the world uses this chipset.
Galaxy S25 and S25+ are boring
Aside from the new chipset, Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ remain unchanged than their predecessors. They have the same display, the same battery, the same charging speed and the same camera.
They did not receive a reflection of anti -display, a new ultravide camera or autofoccing ultravide. But hey, Galaxy S25 now comes with 12GB of RAM as Plus and Ultra.
There is no global variant with 16GB of RAM
But seriously, only 12GB of RAM on Galaxy S25 ULTRA looks disrespectful. Pixel 9 Pro has 16GB, Xiaomi 14 ULTRA is at the top at 16GB, while OnePlus 13 has up to 24GB of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy S25
Yes, technically 16GB Galaxy S24 Ultra, but you can’t buy a single outside Korea, China and Taiwan. Once again, it’s not a good look.
Now Galaxy S25 is edge
Samsung irritated Galaxy S25 EDGE. Rumor as S25 Slim, Age revives the line of legendary handhelds by Samsung. The first was the Galaxy Note Edge whose right edge was sloping that opened extra functionality like the same screen. Other, such as Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S7 Edge had two sloping edges that seemed as sharp as a knife at that time.
The new Galaxy S25 EDGE looks unclear. It looks like a galaxy alpha.
Are there many models now?
Now there can be at least one Galaxy S25 model. If Samsung later brings out the Galaxy S25 FE, it will make it more difficult to navigate the range. We can be ready for a world where the smallest galaxy S or the middle one is unnecessary.
