It’s all but confirmed that Samsung will introduce not three, but four Galaxy S25 smartphones at this year’s first Unpacked event. Samsung will add a “Galaxy S25 Slim,” which should at least fit somewhere between the S25+ and S25 Ultra in terms of price.
Slim design, as the name suggests
Unlike the rest of the Galaxy S25 family, the S25 Slim has not been leaked in images. All we know is that the handset will feature a slightly different design than the rest. Samsung is rumored to use the S25 Slim as a basis for the design of next year’s S26 series.
Samsung Galaxy S24+
However, we do know that it will be very slim, with a thickness of around 6.5mm. It’s an impressively thin chassis, although most phones these days are between 8-9mm.
Top-tier hardware
We expect high-end hardware from the Galaxy S25 Slim. After all, the device is part of Samsung’s flagship lineup and is expected to be priced closer to the Ultra.
Rumor-based renders of the Galaxy S25 Ultra
The display is rumored to measure 6.66” diagonally, the same as the S25+, while the chipset will be the latest and greatest from Qualcomm – the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
There is still no consensus on the battery capacity, but tipsters estimate a cell between 4,700 and 5,000 mAh. That might not seem like much at first, but keep in mind the thin 6.5-millimeter profile.
“Ultra” camera on board
Despite its size, the S25 Slim is tipped to have an “Ultra” camera system, meaning it will feature a better portion of the S25 Ultra’s camera hardware. Luckily, we have some leaked detailed specs of the camera system, so we don’t have to guess.
The main 200MP ISOCELL HP5 sensor will be borrowed from the Ultra, measuring 1/1.56″ but could also be 1/1.3″ like the HP2. Remember, the HP5 is yet to be announced.
The ultrawide and telephoto units will sport Samsung’s 50MP JN5 1/2.76″ sensor. The telephoto camera will have 3.5x optical zoom. However, the S25 Slim will skip the second telephoto camera.
Additionally, the 3.5x telephoto camera uses Samsung’s All Lens on Prism (ALoP) design. The advantage of the new tech is that it can be fitted within tight spaces. Perfect for the S25 Slim.
Price and Availability
As mentioned, pricing is unknown, but we know it will be cheaper than the Ultra and more expensive than the Plus. And as far as availability goes, don’t hold your breath, as current evidence suggests the S25 Slim won’t arrive until Q2 of this year. It will be announced during the Samsung Unpacked event this month, but it will be a while before you can buy it.
The fact that Samsung has been able to keep a tight lid on its new flagship device confirms that it is not as close to release as the other three phones in the lineup. So, for the first time in a while, we can get excited about the next surprise that the Unpacked event will hold on January 22.
