According to new data released by the canalis, the Latin American smartphone market increased by 15% in 2024 compared to 2023. The 2024 Shipment was 137 million units, which is a perfect record in this field.
Samsung ruled Supreme with 42.9 million shipments for 31% market share with 12% annual shipment growth. Motorola was followed by 22.8 million shipments, 17% market share and 4% compared to 2023. The third was Ziomi, which was sent to 22.7 million units and 17% was close to Motorola on market share. Ziomi’s sales increased by 20% in the year-by-year year.
Transation was ahead with 12.8 million shipments, 9% of the pie and 40% growth. But no other brand has increased more than fifth place, with 8 million shipments for 6% market share in 2024, which is 79% higher than 2023.
If we look at only the fourth quarter of 2024, the standings are a bit different. Samsung still leads with 10.2 million shipments, 31% market share and 17% annual growth, but it is Ziomi second with 5.4 million shipments, 16% market share and 11% growth. Motorola is third in third place with a decrease of 5.2 million shipments, 15% of pie and 14% compared to Q4 2023.
Transition is sent ahead with 3.1 million units, 9% market share, and annual-rate growth, and Apple Pal is fifth with 2.8 million shipments, 8% market share and 12% growth in the year-rate year.
Canalis says people in Latin America are buying more and more cheap phones, reducing the loss of devices by 200 to 9399, increased by 41% to 48% in 2024. The image above illustrates how well each brand works in the three price segment, and as you expect, Samsung’s market share shrinks as much as you go down.
