Samsung has just announced the global rollout of its Odyssey OLED G6 Gaming Monitor – the world’s first 500 Hz OLED monitor.
The monitor has a 500 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms GTG (gray-to-gray) response time and a 27-inch QD-Olade panel with 2560 x 1440px resolution. The panel is also the Vesa Display True Black 500 Certified, that is, the panel can reach 500 NIT, 95% DCI-P3 covers color space and black is really black. It’s eventually an OLED screen.
Samsung says the monitor can go up to 1000 NITs, although this only refers to the small patch, only 3% precise.
In any case, 500 NITS should be more than sufficient, especially with Samsung’s glowing free layer at the top. The Odyssey Oled G6 also has OLED Safeguard+ technology that prevents burn-ins during extended use.
Finally but not the least, the device supports Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s Freesync Premium Pro Adaptive Refresh Rate Techniques.
For now, the monitor will be available in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, but the rest of the world should expect the Odyssey Oled G6 by the end of this year.
