Tl; DR: Our mobile app began to experience problems earlier this month. The error was due to the beta version of the Android system webview component. This has been fixed in the latest version published by Google on the Play Store on V139.0.7258.51 from July 23. You can download it with this link.

The first reports of these issues have come after Android’s July 2025 Google System update. For a limited number of users, our mobile app has not displayed content in portrait mode (though it works in landscape orientation). We reported the error to Google, which immediately released a fixed version of the component. If you are having this problem, you can download the latest beta version yourself from the link above.

If you do not see the “Update” button, try uninstalling the component first then reinstall it – the latest version should be installed. If you only uninstall the beta version, then you will temporarily run a steady version. This will not prevent future beta versions from automatically installed, however, you will still get into the beta channel.

GSMERNA App: The error received by some of our users has now been fixed

To avoid participating in future mistakes like these you want to be out of the beta channel for the webview component – especially if you accidentally signed up for it (as we understand that some of our users have done). This can be selected using the link (you should watch the screen as above).

Note: Users who did not run webview beta were not affected and needed nothing. Also, this is not related to the beta version of the GSMERA application.
