Apple will finally refresh the iPhone SE next year, and we’ve been hearing a lot about it lately — including the fact that it will debut Apple’s self-developed modem.
Now a rumor out of Korea claims that the new iPhone SE will start at $499, which is $300 less than the ‘vanilla’ iPhone 16 and will make the SE model an attractive proposition again for those looking for a more affordable iPhone.

The previous iPhone SE, launching in 2022, started at $429, so this would essentially be a $70 price hike, but considering all the upgrades the new model is rumored to pack, that doesn’t sound too bad.
The new SE is said to come with an A18 chipset, 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence, a 6.06-inch 60 Hz OLED screen, a 48 MP main camera, a 12 MP selfie snapper and an updated design. iPhone 14, including notch with Face ID sensors.
So the 2025 iPhone SE looks to borrow the chipset, amount of RAM, and main camera from the iPhone 16, and when you factor in the price difference, the more bezel-heavy design and lack of ultrawide camera probably won’t sting much — if at all.
