The JEDEC, or a combined electron device engineering council, has just announced the flash storage of the next pay Generation that will soon enter our devices. The UFS 5.0 storage standard has now been finalized and manufacturers will be able to start production soon.

Standard AI focuses on improving operations and ENERGY zero efficiency for AI systems, mobile devices and edge computing. Equally important, UFS 5.0 storage will initially be compatible with hardware designed for UFS 4.x.
The UFS 5.0 almost doubles the sequential performance, providing a 10.8 GB/s bandwidth. For reference, UFS 4.0.1 and 1.1 standards provide up to 8.8 GB/s bandwidth.
In addition to the improvement of the performance, the new link equality features a better signal stability, while the dedicated power rail distinguishes the sound between the physical and the memory layers, even more improving reliability. The UFS 5.0 also presents an inline hashs that protect the user data.
Jedek has not given a clear release deadline, so we have to wait until the manufacturers start making a new standard.
