According to a new rumor, Qualcomm is currently working on a new chipset for a smartwatch, with Aspen’s codename and model number SW6100. From that we can guess that it will be sold as Snapdragon Wear W6, as the model number in W5 is the SW5100.
Interestingly, the new chip is not based on all its predecessors, any existing Qualcomm production. The Snapdragon Wear W6 is a Bespoke for the Warable Platform, and with the support of the LPDRD5X RAM in its CPU, there will be a cortex-A78 core and four Cortex-A55 cores. It will be created by TSMC.

The W5 was unveiled in 2022, and so it is definitely a high time to replace Qualcomm. W6 focuses on the demonstration of four Cortex-A53 cores to four Cortex-A55 and Cortex-A78 large core in its predecessor. If that configuration seems familiar, that’s because Samsung’s Exynos W1000 also uses it.
It is not clear when Qualcomm will bring the new SOC to the market, but may be announced at its annual Snapdragon Summit in September, in which case we should see the first smartwatch appearing in early 2026.
