Apple Pal’s new iPhone models support fast charging – iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max can hit 50% in just 20 minutes, while Slim iPhone Air needs 30 minutes to go to the 50% mark. It doesn’t surprise you – but it should disappoint you – that Apple Pale did this in the most apple.
According to the official specs, 20 minutes is achieved using the new 40 W Dynamic Power Adapter of Apple Pal with 60 W Max. First, it is a terrible name of the charger. Second, let’s be clear – it’s a 40W charger that can provide 60W for a limited time (over 15 minutes according to initial tests).

The important thing is that this charger uses a new adjustable voltage supply (AV) protocol instead of the old programmable power supply (PPS). A.V. The device (iPhone, in this case) allows a specific voltage request, which ranges from 15 V to 48V in 0.1 V steps. Which is best for high-power devices, but good ol ‘PPS can easily handle 40W and 60W.
The opportunities are that whatever USB charger at home does not support AVS – but it can support PPS. However, that is not the case with the new adapter of Apple Pal.

Redit user Privatorbok Hand-on exam of the new 40 W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max and confirmed that PPS is not supported-only standard USB power delivery 3.0. This makes the new $ 39 charger of the Apple Pal less useful for any PPS-enabled gadget you have.
The more pressure question is – can iPhone 17 models charge 50% in 20 minutes using 40 W (or 60 W) USB PPS adapter? And if that happens, will it effectively like an AVS-capable charger? It’s something we have to test.
